I never thought this time would come... but alas, I underestimated the power of subbing. :o If you're here for the fansubs, PLEASE READ (and I apologize in advance for the insane length)!

As of Friday, August 1, Taiji Project fansubs are no longer hosted at this journal. Instead they will be released at Taiji Project's new community, [info]taijiprojectsub.

It's been a loooooong time coming, but I finally wrote up a FAQ to keep linked up on the Taiji Project profile. Keep in mind that this is subject to change.

Massively long, so click here to read )

Arashi - Crazy Moon ~Kimi wa Muteki~

Taiji Project
And here's the other track from the new single, Crazy Moon ~Kimi wa Muteki~! This one put up more of a fight than Ashita no Kioku did, so I hope I finally made sense of it. :x

...There's a bird chirping outside and I swear it's saying "chibu chibu chibu chibu chibu." Ohgahd, I'm going insane. @_@

AHEM. Wrong song. Here. Crazy Moon!

Arashi - Crazy Moon ~Kimi wa Muteki~ (Crazy Moon ~You are unrivaled~)

Romaji )

Kiss crazy I don't know, don't stop baby don't stop
Miss crazy I'm on my guard, what's up baby it never ends

Love that I can only chase after is painful, but I can't stop now
It feels like the closer I get, the farther away you are
"It always feels like that, you say you loved me, no, just a dream future"

On nights when I can't sleep, the dream never ends
Every time the dawn comes, only you disappear
While I'm left standing here

Unrivaled
You're what I want, but I can't reach you
As if you're laughing at the love that slips through my fingers
The two of us will become the moon and sun
Is my impatient heart being tested?
I can't even see the point in bargaining anymore
But I don't care, I just want to be with you

Kiss crazy I don't know, don't stop baby don't stop
Miss crazy I'm on my guard, what's up baby it never ends

The distance we keep missing each other by makes me crazy, it feels like I can reach you
If there's a meaning in the pain gripping my heart, I want to know what it is
"It always feels like a lie, like a dream of fresh new love"

I've been too distracted by just the ending
Why don't we stop worrying about it?
We can always start here

Beautiful
I can't take my eyes off you as you're scattering your love
So beautiful but fleeting, like flower petals
Is scattering all they can do?
I want to make sure of your shining secret
I can't go on being just friends anymore
I just want to keep holding you tight like this

On nights when I can't sleep, the dream never ends
Every time the dawn comes, only you disappear
While I'm left standing here

Unrivaled
You're what I want, but I can't reach you
As if you're laughing at the love that slips through my fingers
The two of us will become the moon and sun
Is my impatient heart being tested?
I can't even see the point in bargaining anymore
But I don't care, I just want... "to be with you"

Kiss crazy I don't know, don't stop baby don't stop
Miss crazy I'm on my guard, what's up baby it never ends

Arashi - Ashita no Kioku

  • Jun. 4th, 2009 at 2:34 PM
Taiji Project
Yeah, I'm like 2 weeks late with this and everyone else has already translated it, but I'm posting it anyway :P - both tracks of Arashi's latest single! First, of course, is Ashita no Kioku, which is a really lovely song even if it feels bizarrely out of place as the theme song for The Quiz Show 2. *hides* I'm spoiled by Paralyzed Ocean, people. :S

...Also, just a little brag on my part: I spent HOURS listening to the end sequence of The Quiz Show episode 1 at full volume trying to pick out the lyrics of this song, and a few weeks later when the official lyrics became available, I found that I GOT EVERY WORD RIGHT and I was so annoyingly proud. :D;;; Anyway, done bragging! Enjoy the lyrics~

Arashi - Ashita no Kioku (Tomorrow's memories)

Romaji )

Wanting to make the sunset I saw with you on that day last forever
Within my memory I reached out to touch you over and over, but

The same scenery and feelings will never return again
So I'll surely turn to look back at the shining dream from my past

Even in the brand new future, sadness spills over
Staining the heart, making everyone stop in place and lose sight of it

In the midst of the changing seasons
What color will we paint tomorrow?
If we can strongly, strongly believe in each other
What color future will be waiting?

Even the most precious memory will fade someday
So I averted my eyes from reality and ran away to hide behind the word "dream"

Even if the broken yesterday was nothing but a mistake
It's not too late, you can start over as many times as it takes

In the midst of the changing ages
How many times will I love someone?
If we can deeply, deeply support each other
What will I be able to do for you?

Piling upon each other deep in my heart
Joy and sadness, warmth and hatred
The days we shared after our chance meeting
Are surely etched into my heart forever

In the midst of the changing seasons
What color will we paint tomorrow?
If we can strongly, strongly believe in each other
What color future will be waiting?

What color will we paint tomorrow?

Arashi - Once Again

Taiji Project
And last in today's Arashi lyricspam is Once Again, which I rather grew to like as I translated it. The rhythm is neat. :o Listening to old episodes of Aiba's Recomen recently where he played it probably helped the process along a little... but anyway, yeah... enjoy!

Arashi - Once Again

Romaji )

Once again we're pedaling toward the future that has just begun
With our feelings carved into our hearts
We can still grab it if we reach out our hands
The dream we had forgotten about is right there

All that time we couldn't fly, so we kept looking up at the sky
Unable to do anything and with no destination, we just kept searching

We just spent all our time not knowing what to do
Sleepless nights kept piling up
I know the day will come when we'll reach
The other side of the today we were so scared of

Once again we're pedaling toward the future that has just begun
With our feelings carved into our hearts
We can still grab it if we reach out our hands
The dream we had forgotten about is right there

We couldn't see the things we were certain of, and asked after them every night
We just pushed forward, blind to our surroundings and absorbed in running

The voice silenced by the rain starting to fall
I'll carve it into my heart so I won't forget it
Together with these feelings surging forth
I know the day will come when I'll reach you

Once again we're running toward the future
The dream we've created will surely be just as we imagined it
Don't give up! If it's already enough to make you regret
The tomorrow we've always believed in is right there

I had almost lost sight of it
Beyond "the dream I set my wishes on" once again
Even the anxieties I had back then
Will never go to waste - I've been waiting, because...
We have to crouch down lower before we can jump up higher
So please, give me a chance now once again
Yeah, over and over, again and again

Once again we're pedaling toward the future that has just begun
With our feelings carved into our hearts
We can still grab it if we reach out our hands
The dream we had forgotten about is right there

Stand up!! We're running toward the future
The dream we've created will surely be just as we imagined it
Don't give up! If it's already enough to make you regret
The tomorrow we've always believed in is right there

Arashi - Koe

Taiji Project
The second of tonight's three Arashi offerings comes from their most recent album, Dream"A"live (is anyone really sure exactly how we're supposed to type that? Works better with colored fonts, I guess...). It's another one that I'm not entirely confident in... but hope I captured stuff right, anyway. ^^; So here is Koe...

Arashi - Koe (Voice)

Romaji )

Standing motionless on the windy street, when I looked back the sun had already fallen
I was looking alone at the silent night that had begun
Still taking the long way, avoiding the place where I always met with you
Every time the lights along the street shine, I stop and stand still again

I always tried to make even the smallest lies and selfishness your fault
Looking up at the sky, I remember it over and over again and my heart feels like it might burst

Goodbye... I always wanted to protect only you forever
Even if I force myself to smile and pretend I've forgotten, I'll never forget you

Our touching fingers search for your feelings and my love
No words are needed, because your hand reached my heart

You have your own sky, and what I saw was my own sky
Back then, the shape formed by the two of us together was slowly changing...

I cried out until my voice was gone, but my thoughts won't reach you
The future I vowed to have with you is cut off, that day will surely never return

Goodbye... I always wanted to protect only you forever
Even if I force myself to smile and pretend I've forgotten, I'll never forget you

Arashi - 15th Moon

  • May. 8th, 2009 at 9:11 PM
Taiji Project
So for what I believe is the first time since ever, I had NO new fansub releases ready for [info]taijiprojectsub this past week. D: But because I am determined to show at least some semblance of productivity every week, tonight I'm back with another little lyricspam! Three this time!

First up is the oldest song in the collection, and also the oldest request, since I did most of it ages ago but was never really sure if I felt satisfied with certain bits of it. :s So, uh, not sure how perfect it is... but enjoy Arashi's 15th Moon :D;;

Arashi - 15th Moon

Romaji )

If you were mine... a silent cry
If you were mine... an endless echo

The gravity of love is too painful, if you're backing out, I'm at my limit
Earlier on the phone you lied about where you were with a fake smile

If I can rewind tonight back to you in your loneliness
I wouldn't hesitate to pull you into this pain

The 15th moon barely stops me, breaks me down
If it's okay to pull you close, I'll entrust my body to the full moon
If you were mine... a silent cry

The love I thought I understood was locked away deep in my heart
I'm like an aquarium fish suffocating in your lies

Though I can't even touch you in my dreams tonight
In reality I'm close enough to grasp your arm

15th moon, release the thorns I'm tangled in
If it's okay to be hurt, I'll break the glass in my heart first
If you were mine...
If you were mine...

The 15th moon barely stops me, breaks me down
If it's okay to pull you close, I'll entrust my body to the full moon

15th moon, release the thorns I'm tangled in
If it's okay to be hurt, I'll break the glass in my heart first

If you were mine... a silent cry
If you were mine... an endless echo
15th Moon!

Arashi - Sketch

  • Apr. 30th, 2009 at 2:40 AM
Taiji Project
And here's the second of tonight's little duo of commemorative-type songs, this one from around the time of Arashi's 5th debut anniversary - Sketch. A lot of footnotes will follow this one, because the song is packed with references to various landmarks and moments in their career up to that time, and I decided to be nice and explain all of them just like the Japanese sites I yoinked the kanji from. :D

Arashi - Sketch

Romaji )

Let us start with a huge word of thanks
It started when the five of us got on that yacht [1]
Calling us grown-ups then might be too harsh
It means five years is not just a short amount of time [2]

In the beginning our bond was faint
But days when we didn't see each other were rare
"Let's go on like this long, long into the future"
We know that's what we're all feeling now
So there's no place in the world where we don't think about it
We'll shout it out loud with our companions
That includes you listening too, "you're one of us"

"Enough already," just follow us
Wipe those tears and follow us
Forever and ever I wanna be w/u [3]
Forever and ever we wanna be w/u

If that star shining in the night sky is you, it'll give us light and courage
I'm turning that into my strength, and that's why I can shine

That's right, more and more and more (Let us start with a huge word of thanks)
Why don't you come closer? (That includes you listening too, "you're one of us")
It's okay just for today, right? Just close enough to feel our love
("Enough already," just follow us)

"Let's fulfill our dream of making it to the top..." [4]

Covering the volleyball game [5]
Welcoming the new millennium twice [6]
Getting hit in the chest in the middle of the night [7]
Welcoming the runner into the Budoukan [8]

Right now, we're gonna celebrate the present with all of you
We'll swear to keep fighting to the end together
It might get old, but we offer our huge gratitude
Thank you to everyone involved with us

After talking until morning without sleep, we finally understood what "Arashi" was [9]
So let's call up a storm when that door opens
"This isn't the place for us to stop" [10]
You are my sunshine and you are my soul, soul [11]
Nobody can get in the way of this unrelenting feeling
We're loving it more than anyone else

We'll paint on with a color that's been mixed with your love
All of us and you will be there, and the dream will become reality

So rest at ease (Let's call up a storm when that door opens)
Come on, just like always (This isn't the place for us to stop)
Let the beautiful light of your smile from far away shine on the path we're walking
(Right now, we're gonna celebrate the present with all of you)

Your unwavering voice turns into love and rains down on us
We're always messing around, but we want to properly say thank you
Now, let's create the next step

"I'm glad I'm in Arashi..." [4]

That's right, more and more and more... why don't you come closer?
It's okay just for today, right? Just close enough to feel our love

lalalalala...

(Right now, we're gonna celebrate the present with all of you)
(Let us start with a huge word of thanks)
(That includes you listening too, "you're one of us")
("Enough already," just follow us)

So rest at ease, come on, just like always
Let the beautiful light of your smile from far away shine on the path we're walking

[1] Their debut took place on a cruise ship in Hawaii
[2] This song was written in 2004, their 5th year since debuting

Arashi - Matsujun no Uta (full version)

  • Apr. 30th, 2009 at 2:30 AM
Taiji Project
I still live, honest! Thought I should rise from the recent silence over at [info]taijiprojectsub to toss a couple songs up here - and today I just happen to have two Arashi songs ready that are sort of... commemorative in nature, or whatever you'd call it. Suitable to mark their upcoming 10th debut anniversary, perhaps? n_n

The first and older of the two came about in 2003. Most everyone is familiar with the video of Matsumoto Jun's 20th birthday song; possibly slightly fewer people are aware of the full version of the song, which is a little harder to find (as are the complete lyrics). But not anymore. :D ...Ok, actually, I guess they will still be hard to find. But the English lyrics will hide in obscurity or complete nonexistence no longer!

Arashi - Matsujun no Uta (full version)

Romaji )

You, the perfectionist, are the last one to turn 20
There was a time when you were called the "idol punch"
First Arashi member to play a lead role, you're the man who's gonna start something
It's the result of you never sparing any effort
We love you, really love you

Everyone says your eyebrows are huge
But your leg hair is thick too
It's just like you to get mad when people joke about it

But
Already 20! Already an adult! The last one of us to grow up
We expect awesome things from the adult Matsujun!!
Happy birthday
We congratulate you from the heart with this passionate guys' song
We truly congratulate you
From now on as well - go for it!!

Changing your character now of all times, that's you
It was too late, but you pulled it off
To you we send this birthday song
"Kazu make song" hurry faster to the future
Thank you for always working so late
Thank you, really, thank you
Miyajima Toru and Kiri Yutaka
This song that everyone took part in
Will be the end of our songs in 2003
With you, the A-Friends are over [1]
Matsujun, happy birthday!

Already 20! Already an adult! The last one of us to grow up
We expect awesome things from the adult Matsujun!!
Happy birthday
We congratulate you from the heart with this passionate guys' song
We truly congratulate you
From now on as well - go for it!!

From the beginning you were... Matsumoto [2]

[1] The A-Friends were, if I recall, the group that Nino(?) put together to compose songs all the members on their 20th birthdays; since Jun was the last, they "broke up" after him. I think this also explains the line before it - they've been making birthday songs for the past few years, but 2003 is the end of their birthday-song-making days. Or something. :s

[2] I think the "motomoto Matsumoto" thing is just a pun on his name... "motomoto" means originally or from the start, and well... yeah. Ha ha, Nino.

Arashi (Ohno Satoshi) - Song For Me

  • Apr. 21st, 2009 at 2:51 AM
Taiji Project
And here's my second Ohno solo offering for today, Song For Me. You know, the very first time I heard this song (by accident, I might add; it was embedded in some website I went to), I knew before the intro even ended that it would never, ever get out of my head. I was right. +_+ But dude, the chorus is so much fun to sing. Even if I suck at it. Especially if I suck at it. :D;;

...As I said when I translated Believe not long ago, this was also another one of those songs that I really like so much more after translating the lyrics. They're just. Wow. I have no words.

Anyway, as I've also said before, I hope I did it justice... the way some of the lines fit together raises the complexity level a bit, so I might make random edits over time if I come back and find anything that squicks me...

Arashi (Ohno Satoshi) - Song For Me

Romaji )

Someday's parting, someday's meeting
As my countless tears and pounding heartbeats pile up, I'm still waiting here
...so I could, so I would, you know?...

Beyond words, deep in my heart
Something not yet known is born and starts to play a sound, wrapping me up
So I dream on, surely

"Forever, from the spaces between the stardust" if I can meet you in my dream
"My chest trembles so much it hurts" will my eternal wish
"The sadness reverberates like glass" reach where you are?
-so I could, so I would, you know?-

"It will forever reflect the promise" the continuation of my dream
"This time embraced me teasingly" is far from me now
I gathered up the light and closed my eyes alone
So I dream on, softly

And then, like that day I spent walking aimlessly
I was just gazing at the same thing over again, my time wavers beyond the window now
-Yes, love flutters softly upward, wow yeah-

In the silence, the melody of someday
With words that can't be sung and warmth flowing, it's still playing now

Beyond memories, deep in my heartbeat
The growing timbre heals the wounds in my heart, dissolving the sorrow
So I dream on, surely

"I'll connect the shining lights as far as they'll go" if I reach out my hand
"Pouring down endlessly in my heart" will the distant future
"Beautiful as it repeats like ripples in water" be visible too?
-so I could, so I would, you know?-

"It will endlessly reflect the promise" in the spaces between dreams
"I embraced this quiet feeling" there's a rainbow
The light overflowed and I closed my eyes alone
So I dream on, softly

And then, the sky I gazed at alone on that day
I was just looking for a song for me, I want to see you now, all I want is that feeling
...Yes, love flutters softly upward, wow yeah...

While only the vague details are left wandering through the maze of dawn
Even if I wake up from the dream, I won't forget

Arashi (Ohno Satoshi) - Cool

  • Apr. 21st, 2009 at 2:28 AM
Taiji Project
Since various technical woes have delayed my progress with subbing recently *kicks VirtualDub out window*, here are some translated lyrics to help fill in the gap - Ohno Satoshi solos, specifically. There would be more, since I had a request for his concert solo Size too, but apparently nobody has the complete original lyrics to that one. Too many random English lines thrown in that nobody can understand. >.>

So here's the older of the two solos I bring you today, Cool. This one also has insane amounts of random English, and I don't know if they think that helps us English speakers understand the song better or what, but if they do I've got news for them. >>; *cough* So anyway, yeah... take this as a very loose translation...

Arashi (Ohno Satoshi) - Cool

Romaji )

Hey Mr, your rhythm is off, what gives?
I was trying match your pace, I believed in you
Hey yeah baby
Oh hey Mr, you're like the jungle
Rushing won't make anything better
Never, oh

Mm, but there's no other way to go all out
So Mr, more... Mr, gently... Make it a smooth invitation

My name is COOL COOL COOL just tonight
Hey what you don't know, I just don't let my face show it
I am COOL just tonight
Hey what you don't know, contrary to what's in my heart
I am COOL just tonight
Hey what you don't know, I just look like I'm grown up
So it's COOL just tonight
Hey what you don't know, you better prepare yourself
Get ready

Mm, but there's no other way to go all out
So Mr, more... Mr, gently... Make it a smooth invitation

My name is COOL COOL COOL just tonight
Hey what you don't know, I just don't let my face show it
I am COOL just tonight
Hey what you don't know, contrary to what's in my heart
I am COOL just tonight
Hey what you don't know, I just look like I'm grown up
So it's COOL just tonight
Hey what you don't know, you better prepare yourself
Get ready

Arashi - Believe

  • Mar. 31st, 2009 at 11:25 PM
Taiji Project
It felt way too weird not having anything to post on a Tuesday, so I decided to toss up some lyrics! ...Actually, not really. I was gonna post this anyway. :P I translated Believe a few days ago for AST's fansub of Arashi on Music Lovers from a week or so ago, so after they released that I decided to share just the lyrics here. Turned out to be kind of a much cooler song that I thought it was before I did this. :o So I hope everyone enjoys it! And I hope I got all the flubs edited out this time... >>;;

Arashi - Believe

Romaji )

It's a brand new world

No matter how far I go, I can't get past it
No matter how time goes on, it won't go away
So how far must I go before I'll get there?
The memory of a distant day

When the dawn broke and I looked up at the sky, it was shining
It's a brand new world
I'm gazing at the single star I saw in my dream

I'll take back the dream I lost in the endless days that repeated over and over
I don't need this world full of lies, I can grab it with my own hands

Yes, we are always waiting, forever waiting
On the path that continues on forever
This dream I've always embraced in my heart will surely come true
Crying and laughing, I'll keep moving forward

No matter how long I try, I can't reach it
Suddenly I felt the loneliness at the end of the night
Why do all these tears keep falling?
I ask the skies above

I was always searching for passion
It's a brand new world
Shining on just one destination

I'll carve in the light I found during the days when I moved forward in pain
I don't need a future that soils my pride, I can grab it with my own hands

Yes, someone is surely waiting, waiting to tell me something
On the path that continues on forever
Face tomorrow and shine, keep chasing this dream forever
I'll use up my voice and keep moving forward

I want to touch the love that stretches on without end
Hope overflows in both you and me
We'll reconfirm the love in each of our hearts
And the reasons we were born here

What exactly am I doing?
What exactly am I looking at?
What exactly am I living through?
"I'm already..." Ah, already my life is flashing before me
Unintentionally hurting someone for the sake of protecting my tiny pride
It's the same yesterday and today and today - today I'll do something about today

Calmly I'll raise my obscure dreams up high
I can't see what's beyond this road yet, the only way I'll learn is through mistakes
The cadence of this life exists so I can cross to the other side of the sky
Facing the future I had back then, my life moves forward with no expectations for this age

Yes, we are always waiting, forever waiting
On the path that continues on forever
This dream I've always embraced in my heart will surely come true
Crying and laughing, I'll keep moving forward
Someone is surely waiting, waiting to tell me something
On the path that continues on forever
Face tomorrow and shine, keep chasing this dream forever
I'll use up my voice and keep moving forward

SMAP - Douka Todokimasu You ni

  • Mar. 2nd, 2009 at 7:23 PM
Taiji Project
Finally we have Douka Todokimasu You ni, the last and longest of tonight's four SMAP offerings. This one had some strange phrasing and stuff with all those parenthetical bits, so I hope it all makes sense...

Douka Todokimasu You ni (I pray that it will somehow reach you)

Romaji )

I pray that it will somehow
Reach to where you are

The shining smile you gave me
On the day I met you
Taught me that the joy of living never runs out
Thank you, the one I love
I want to stay hand in hand
And keep walking together with you always
Let's not forget our solid bond
Since the day I met you
I've grown stronger than I was back then
I won't forget my gratitude to you
I'll never fail to thank you
We can trust each other with no doubts
As long as we have kindness and love, it'll be all right

I pray that my light (will reach you somehow)
I pray that in my future (you'll be able to smile)
I pray that my feelings (will reach you somehow)
Always, always, always (I pray that you'll always be able to smile)
I pray that these beautiful days (will continue on somehow)
Like the wind that makes (the flowers in my heart bloom)
I pray that these gentle feelings (will reach you somehow)
I pray that in my future you will softly, softly smile

Even if I'm reborn, I want to watch
The ever-changing scenery with you again
The unceasing voice of my heart
Together with its warm echo
The color of the love we've gathered
Is proof of the love only we can create

No matter how the wind blows (we'll support each other and never give in)
No matter how bitter the cold (so that we can keep each other warm)
No matter what the times bring (so that we can laugh away anything)
Spring, summer, fall, and winter (so that we can overcome it all)
Let's grow even stronger (and more gentle than we are now)
Shining all the while (let's continue to grow)
Even as we get old (we'll walk huddled close together)
We'll always, always continue (let's keep walking down the path)
Together

There will probably be times when we want to cry
And even times when it's painful
In the night when it seems like we'll lose sight of each other
Just look up at the night sky and wish on the stars

I pray that my light (will reach you somehow)
I pray that in my future (you'll be able to smile)
I pray that my feelings
Always, always, always (I pray that you'll always be able to smile)

No matter how the wind blows (we'll support each other and never give in)
No matter how bitter the cold (so that we can keep each other warm)
No matter what the times bring (so that we can laugh away anything)
Spring, summer, fall, and winter (so that we can overcome it all)
Let's grow even stronger (and more gentle than we are now)
Shining all the while (let's continue to grow)
Let's build a place (together) where we can be happy (just like this)
Forever

SMAP - Still U

  • Mar. 2nd, 2009 at 7:21 PM
Taiji Project
And here's the third one, Still U, which was a much quicker endeavor since most of it is already in English... but still they managed to throw one verse in the mix that hung me up as much as any of the other three. >.> Johnny, you sadistic weirdo. Anyway, here y'go...

Still U

Romaji )

I still wanna be next to you
It's a fact that we've come this far together
Nothing can ever compare to you
It was you (always you) and it's still you

It's why we were able to stick out the long road together
Why I'm singing this song for you in your disbelief

Everyone said we might break up, but
We're still here together standing closer than ever before.
Hey yeah

I still wanna be next to you
It's a fact that we've come this far together
Nothing can ever compare to you
It was you (always you) and it's still you

I just can't believe it, looking back how far we came together
After all this time, baby you're still the one
that I hold on to every night

When everything else is changing in this crazy world
Only you. You know you're the only thing
that'll never ever have to change oh baby

I still wanna be next to you
It's a fact that we've come this far together
Nothing can ever compare to you
It was you (always you) and it's still you

I still wanna be next to you
It's a fact that we've come this far together
Nothing can ever compare to you
It was you (always you) and it's still you

Spring summer fall winter
Through the rain and thunder shower
We won't let go of each other's hands
Nothing will change until the end
You and me and me and you
Just the two of us stuck like glue
Committed forever like a tattoo
Girl you will always be my boo

Everyone said we might break up, but
We're still here together standing closer than ever before.
Hey yeah

I still wanna be next to you
It's a fact that we've come this far together
Nothing can ever compare to you
It was you (always you) and it's still you

I still wanna be next to you
It's a fact that we've come this far together
Nothing can ever compare to you
It was you (always you) and it's still you

SMAP - Last Smile

  • Mar. 2nd, 2009 at 7:19 PM
Taiji Project
And here's the second of four requested SMAP songs, Last Smile, for your viewing/reading/listening/whatever pleasure(?)!

Last Smile

Romaji )

As you accept my last words with such dignity in your sad eyes
I'm sure your brave smile will someday become a memory

The seasons you and I ran through barefoot together
Will never be allowed to return again

Goodbye to the one I love... My love for you
Will never vanish within the changing seasons

Surely someday I'll be able to remember these days when I loved you
And think fondly of them
Please last smile for me

Every night that goes by without you, I'll surely spend wandering alone
The feelings starting to ache won't ever heal, even if I love someone else

The faint memories carved into the days we spent together
Will never disappear, deep in my heart...

Goodbye to the one I love... I'm glad I met you
I can honestly feel that way, so I have no regrets

The days when I loved you will become
An irreplaceable memory
Please last smile for me

The sadder you were, the braver the smile you showed me
I won't forget the warm tears that spilled from your eyes...

I don't want to forget...

Goodbye to the one I love... The memories of our joyful times together
Will never vanish within the flow of time

I can never forget the days we spent together
Because I loved you
Please last smile for me

Goodbye to the one I love... My love for you
Will never vanish within the changing seasons

So that I can remember these days when I loved you
And be able to smile
Please last smile for me

SMAP - Anata no Tame ni Dekiru Koto

  • Mar. 2nd, 2009 at 7:10 PM
Taiji Project
I'm back with more lyricspam to flood your f-lists :B

So back when it was still new, I had a few requests to translate any or all of the songs from SMAP's 2008 album super.modern.artistic.performance - and by now I have no idea if those have already been provided by anyone else, but just in case, I've finally made my attempt on a few of them. ^__^; If there's still any interest, I may try and work on a few other tracks later on.

So anyway, here's the first of four tonight: Anata no Tame ni Dekiru Koto. Enjoy~

Anata no Tame ni Dekiru Koto (The thing I can do for you)

Romaji )

In this great big world, our meeting
Might have been so small that nobody noticed it

But it's in me too, and in the warmth of my hands
I want to touch your fingers and wrap you up

The thing I can do for you is to continue being who I am
To nurture everlasting smiles for the two of us, together with you

Time moves at such a fast pace that words of truth
Come undone and disappear like the passing wind

So I swear, with my one and only heart
That even if I can't put them into words, I'll give sound to my feelings [1]

The thing I can do for you is to live a life of honesty
To lift an unchanging future up to our past and keep believing, for the two of us

Even if you're swallowed up by darkness and frozen in place, I'll be your eyes
The heat of our shared grasp will continue to form our path at the end of the moonlight

The thing I can do for you is to continue being who I am
To nurture everlasting smiles for the two of us, together with you

From now until forever

[1] Just one of those lines that sounds better as a mental image than words. "Kanaderu" means to play, as in play an instrument, but "I'll play my feelings" sounds funny, so er... just try to understand the concept, not the vocab. >>;

TOKIO - Akireru Kurai Bokura wa Negaou

Taiji Project
And here's the other completed TOKIO request - Akireru Kurai Bokura wa Negaou. Challenge though it was, I grew rather fond of this song through the translation process. Added it to my playlist and stuff. ♥ I hope I did it justice...

TOKIO - Akireru Kurai Bokura wa Negaou (We'll wish so hard you won't believe it)

Romaji )

Being afraid to believe, lying for someone's sake
Everybody's face looks different, but each one is the shape of their feelings

We're so clumsy, we hurt others sometimes
But surely we can forgive each other

We'll wish so hard you won't believe it, and the world will become as one
We'll even cross over the dark night
Before those countless tears dampen tomorrow
Let's softly join hands

It's not something very convenient, it doesn't shimmer like a diamond
But the light always shines on the room in the depths of my heart

What taught me that nobody can survive alone
Was the bond of people sharing their joy

We'll make a promise to a shining future, and the world will become as one
We'll place our endless dreams on it
Until the day those countless tears turn into smiles
Let's keep holding hands

Within everyone is the hope to keep living on this planet
One for all
All for one
Now come, let's sing of love

We'll wish so hard you won't believe it, and the world will become as one
We'll even cross over the dark night
Before those countless tears dampen tomorrow
Let's softly...

We'll make a promise to a shining future, and the world will become as one
We'll place our endless dreams on it
Until the day those countless tears turn into a smile
Let's keep holding hands

TOKIO - Amagasa

  • Feb. 25th, 2009 at 1:10 PM
Taiji Project
More requests (finally) fulfilled! I had a couple of TOKIO titles on my list, so that will be the theme of today's little lyricspam :D First to see the light of day, so to speak, is Amagasa. Fun song, and I love the very simple message it carries (as I interpreted it, anyway): USE COMMON SENSE. XD Enjoy!

TOKIO - Amagasa (Umbrella)

Romaji )

Wait
Use your nose
Can't you tell it'll rain this evening?
At least take an umbrella with you
To be scared is to let yourself be carried in the flow
You have five senses, don't you?
If you would just rely on them first, you'd be fine

Whenever your eyes are growing dark
You always blame it on the air pressure and forget

Remember the life you have
If you're not even going to carry your own gear, then just come home wet

Just look
Open your ears
Where is the sound of rain coming from?
What is it hitting that makes it so loud?
Maybe all words will be lost among all the noise
But don't wear out your five senses
All you need to do is rely on them

Whenever your eyes are wet and burning
You always blame it on modern civilization and get lazy

Use up all the life you have
If you're going to let your brains go to waste until you die, then just stand still

Carrying wounds so deep that you can't remember
And ideals so high that you can't live up to them
When you're soaking wet, I'll come for you
Just don't misjudge where you are

2BACKKA - Namida

Taiji Project
And now for an intriguing bit of lyricism from a band that I had never even heard of before this was requested, 2BACKKA. Checked out the PV as well and found that it is indeed a really cool song. Possibly best known as the ending theme from the anime Skip Beat, this is Namida. Enjoy! (<---queen of lame segues)

2BACKKA - Namida (Tears)

Romaji )

No matter how many thousands of times we cry, surely we can overcome it one more time
You can't act like you're clumsy and run away
You should know that much
This is the last time, the last chance, and even if I mess up I won't be scared
The sorrow, the sadness, the longing - they can all be healed someday

When the days we cried and cried are behind us, we can be strong one more time
You can't act like a coward and run away
You should know that much
No matter how many thousands of times we fall, surely we can overcome it one more time
I'm sure your voice will reach me over any distance, straight to me, forever...

The days when things don't go as planned
The feelings I deceived by acting strong
It feels like something's about to break, like tears are about to fall
Unable to be honest
Unable to be myself
If all I ever do is run away
My feelings will never be known
I have to face the goal I've set
Even if I'm pounded by wind and rain, I have to face it
Before I know it, time is passing me by
But everyone, no matter who, can surely grow stronger
I can't keep deceiving my feelings and smashing them down every day
Now is the time to climb the stairway of my one and only life

No matter how many thousands of times we cry, surely we can overcome it one more time
You can't act like you're clumsy and run away
You should know that much
This is the last time, the last chance, and even if I mess up I won't be scared
The sorrow, the sadness, the longing - they can all be healed someday

It feels like I can reach it, but I can't
It feels like I can grasp it, but I can't
The same old fears, so many fears, are holding me back by the arm
Let go of me, I have to go, this isn't my place
If I leave now it won't be too late
I've decided that the tears trailing down my cheeks will be my last

It's not over yet, nothing has ended, nothing has started yet
I haven't finished giving my answer yet, I haven't given up yet
I haven't experienced the joy of knowing the meaning, the reason that I am who I am
I'm already standing by myself, my own tomorrow is waiting

Wipe your tears, lift your face, say this is the beginning and look up at the sky
Smile and stretch out your hand
Until we arrive at the same feeling

An unseasonal wind blows
Rather than living with my back turned on my true feelings
It's probably better to head for the place I was striving for, right?

No matter how many thousands of times we cry, surely we can overcome it one more time
You can't act like you're clumsy and run away
You should know that much
This is the last time, the last chance, and even if I mess up I won't be scared
The sorrow, the sadness, the longing - they can all be healed someday

When the days we cried and cried are behind us, we can be strong one more time
You can't act like a coward and run away
You should know that much
No matter how many thousands of times we fall, surely we can overcome it one more time
I'm sure your voice will reach me over any distance, straight to me, forever...

Chage and Aska - Meguriai

Ok, time to finally get a couple more of these ages-old requested song translations out there into the world. Even if nobody really needs them anymore. :D;; I've got two tonight, and they were both interesting challenges, so I'm eager to share them anyway and hoping that I succeeded in capturing them.

First up is Meguriai by two amazing granddaddies of J-pop, Chage and Aska. Enjoy!

Chage and Aska - Meguriai (Chance encouter)

Romaji )

This wish... somebody, this wish
Will always remain unlocked

It's nice, this meeting, this kind of chance encounter
Just this once, my wounds went through the door with me

You reached out to touch my extended finger with your own

The one who made someone cry because of love and the one who was made to cry
Both sharing the same sin is all right... it's all right

I won't let go of this hand (the two of us) We have no map of the stars (won't get lost)
No words will make us turn back anymore

And in the end (these eyes) If I can be forgiven (if it ends)
If I can still remember, I want it to be you in the end

Even if we lose sight of everything else, the two of us are one

Let's watch the people who missed the bus
While we sit here swaying gently

No matter how warm it's kept, I have the courage to never return home
Beauty that can't be expressed in shape leaves me sad when I awaken from the dream

Let's watch the people (we'll cross over) who missed the bus (this love)
While we sit here (this chance encounter) swaying gently (the two of us here)

Let's watch the people (we'll cross over) who missed the bus (this love)
While we sit here (this chance encounter) swaying gently (the two of us here)

The one who made someone cry because of love and the one who was made to cry
Both sharing the same sin is all right... it's all right... it's all right

This wish... somebody, this wish
It's nice, this meeting, this kind of chance encounter

This wish... somebody, this wish
It's nice, this meeting, this kind of chance encounter

Arashi - Beautiful Days

  • Feb. 13th, 2009 at 4:00 PM
Taiji Project
Third and last of today's not-requested-but-sitting-around-from-previous-fansub-projects lyricspam is Beautiful Days, theme song from Nino's drama Ryusei no Kizuna, and done for my collaboration with the Arashian Subbing Team on their fansub of Shounen Club Premium 2009.01.18. They did a gorgeous job with the karaoke, by the way, so do check it out. :D

Arashi - Beautiful Days

Romaji )

The stars twinkle in the sky and slowly fade
It's so beautiful, it's sad

There are so many stories I wanted to tell you, but
I'll grasp them tight, hold them close, wrinkled as they are

They say if you wish on a star, it will come true
But only in dreams can I ever see you again

The stars twinkle in the sky and slowly fade
All the way home, my tears won't stop
Memories spill from the sky, my tears keep falling
It's so beautiful, it's sad

More than sharing sadness to lessen the tears
Not being able to share happiness is much more painful

The smile I can see in the backs of my eyelids
Still gives me courage even now, I want to see you one more time

I'll face the sky and sing, yes, I'll sing to the limits of my voice
It's strange... I'll never be alone
I'll wave to the sky, I'll wave this hand with all my strength
That will be our sign

Whether we're happy or in pain
We can never meet again, no matter how much I wish

The stars twinkle in the sky and slowly fade
All the way home, my tears won't stop
Memories spill from the sky, my tears keep falling
It's so beautiful, it's sad

I'll face the sky and sing, yes, I'll sing to the limits of my voice
It's strange... I'll never be alone
I will never forget, no, I won't forget
The future I drew in the sky with you

Arashi - Kaze

And secondly, this one was romanized, translated, karaoke'ed, the works'ed, for the Arashi Time concert MC: the lovely Kaze. Grew to like this song quite a bit as I worked on that video. n_n

Arashi - Kaze (Wind)

Romaji )

We laid on the beach in each other's arms
The sky somehow looked lonely without a single cloud, yes, I'm sure
We ran through this brief summer
It's sad to think our suntans will fade, it feels like we'll forget this moment

I watched my reflection in the setting sun, praying that
I could say "thank you" honestly without feeling embarrassed

Throw away everything and stop the clock one more time on this moment
If I believe the ideals I forged and my wishes are my runway, I can flap my wings
When we meet up here again someday and start to talk
My wind and the footsteps from the day I set forth will be embraced by the waves

My dreams rose up from the ocean horizon
It's sad to deceive the meaning of my life and watch them forever

Rolling dreams that won't come true become stars again today
To gently shine on the endless sea

Summer just keeps going on while I feel like this, and I'm not confident,
But if I know my thoughts are the sky and my vows are the clouds, I can take flight
When we meet up here again someday and start to talk
Today's wind and this tiny moment in the universe will be embraced by the waves

The brief summer is coming to an end
I'm just looking at the seaside
It's filling up now with the blue of the ocean
The sky is looking down at us even now

Yes, we'll meet up again, talking and laughing about how we were so worried
The sunset that shone on our decorated selves that day will shine on us again
Enveloping those bashful days, while the wind envelops me

Throw away everything and stop the clock one more time on this moment
If I believe the ideals I forged and my wishes are my runway, I can flap my wings
When we meet up here again someday and start to talk
My wind and the footsteps from the day I set forth will be embraced by the waves

Arashi - Fight Song

  • Feb. 13th, 2009 at 3:57 PM
Taiji Project
I decided to go ahead and make posts here for a few of the songs that I've translated in the past for use in my fansubs (and collaborations) for easier reference, even though they weren't technically requested. Well, this one was, which is why I'm posting it first and made the decision to share the others too. Hope you guys don't mind the spam today ^_^;

So this first one I romanized and translated for G no Arashi ep. 28 (though I ended up not using the romaji there) - the ever-popular Fight Song. Enjoy!

Arashi - Fight Song

Romaji )

It's okay to just be who you are
It's best to not say anything
You can start again from there, right?
This is what suits you best

People are people, and you are you
The moment you compare the two, you've lost
The strength to not lose to yourself
Will break down any wall

It's okay to cry sometimes
And it's all right to show your weak side
But don't get stuck there!
You can still work toward that next dream

No matter how many words you could say
Just one little phrase is enough
Start by taking that first step yourself
"Keep it up!" Something that simple is enough

It's okay to just be who you are
It's best to not say anything
You can start again from there, right?
This is the song we're sending to you

I know you've got things to worry about now
And things that make you feel down
But if you and I can meet somewhere in the future
And laugh together, we can build a new path

No matter how many words you could say
Just one little phrase is enough
You were finally able to take that first step
"Keep it up!" There, you see? It suits you!

Shimokawa Mikuni - Kanashimi ni Makenaide

And here's my second Shimokawa Mikuni offering, Kanashimi ni Makenaide, also known as the ending theme to the anime Grenadier... two more requests down, only a couple dozen more to go! *throws a party*

Shimokawa Mikuni - Kanashimi ni Makenaide (Don't lose to the sadness)

Romaji )

There have been many nights
When I wanted to cry alone
In the middle of an unending journey
Everybody is dreaming

Always believing in something
And losing something too
I held you close
The number of tears I cried
Will turn into the same amount of kindness, I'm sure

Don't lose to the sadness
Keep looking straight toward tomorrow
You're not alone, everybody has a wish
That can come true

I'm sure the wind that blows tomorrow
Will bring with it a gentle scent
I promise, no matter when,
I'll always be with you

There are so many growing emotions
I can't put them all into words
The night embraced by the cold winter wind
Turns even sadness into strength

New meetings are always sudden
They come like the echo of ringing bells
As long as everything you have obtained
Connects to tomorrow, it's all right, so...

Say goodbye to the sadness
Close your eyes and smile
Embrace one by one
The memories you can never forget

Even if we're far apart
I will always pray only for you
That flowers may bloom
Along the path you walk upon

Look up at the starry sky
As you chase your unfinished dreams
Someday you'll become the wind
Become more free...

Don't lose to the sadness
Keep looking straight toward tomorrow
You're not alone, everybody has a wish
That can come true

Because I want to meet you
Because I always want to hear your voice
I can say thank you
To the days that pass away...

Shimokawa Mikuni - Karenai Hana

Taiji Project
Here's to another attempt at some semblance of productivity! Which, for me, seems to mean taking care of lyric requests that have been sitting in my list for months! ><

I have two today, both by the same artist and both anime theme songs, which means there are most certainly other translations out there somewhere already, but I did them anyway, so nyah. >.> First up is Karenai Hana by Shimokawa Mikuni, which happens to be the ending theme from Full Metal Panic. Enjoy...

Shimokawa Mikuni - Karenai Hana (Undying flower)

Romaji )

A tiny flower is blooming in my heart
The undying flower that you gave me

I was able to grow strong enough
That I'm not afraid to believe anymore

I was happy to have met you
I was proud of our hands clasping each other
Even though we're looking up at different skies now
Look, I can keep walking, even on my own

When I laughed more in the sadder times
You just held me close without saying a word

It was like a frozen door coming open
That's how it felt to me

I was happy to have met you
I could even share my loneliness with you
We're still connected under the same sky
That's how it feels, even though we're apart

I couldn't even say "thank you"
I couldn't even make a promise
But if the same wind from that day is blowing
I'm sure we'll meet again

I was happy to have met you
I was proud of our hands clasping each other
Even though we're looking up at different skies now
Look, I can keep walking, even on my own

Ikimono Gakari - Planetarium

I suck. It's been like two months since I translated a song. *clonks head on desk repeatedly* By now all the people who made requests probably don't need translations of the lyrics they asked me for anymore... ok, am I just tired or was that sentence really confusing...?

ANYWAY, I will now break the silence at last with a song requested by a friend and not-really-colleague-but-close of mine. :P Hope you enjoy it, dear ♥

Ikimono Gakari - Planetarium

Romaji )

When we saw a comet stray from the full night sky
You softly laughed and said it was just like us
Wanting to change every bit of our slightest hope into shining radiance
We entrusted our dreams to its noble light

Once I realized I'm not alone, my hands became stronger
I nod again to the voice I can no longer hear

Crossing over the night of sadness, we'll keep on walking
Our wishes, our thoughts keep us dreaming of the endless sky
So if I can shine even for just one moment
Look, now my heart is reaching out to the overflowing light

I still can't throw away the letter you gave me
I added "thank you" to the words I've read so many times

I wonder if you can see beyond that town in the distance too
"Goodbye" - I'll set off once again from this kind place

Even if sadness tries to stop us there someday
Our wishes, our thoughts will still paint a beautiful future
So if I can find it, even if it's just an illusion
Look, now my heart is reaching out to the overflowing light

Until I can meet you again on the other side of this sadness
My wishes, my thoughts will convey my unfaltering words

Crossing over the night of sadness, we'll keep on believing
Our wishes, our thoughts keep us dreaming of an endless world
So if I can shine even for just one moment
Look, now my heart is reaching out to the overflowing light

244 ENDLI-x - Yellow

And today's second completed request is Yellow by 244 ENDLI-x. My first experience with Dohmoto Tsuyoshi's solo project (or any KinKi music, actually, save for hearing a few of their songs on a scattered basis) - and what a strange and interesting song. o_o Strange mostly because of the way he chopped up the lyrics into short little lines and phrases... but it's an interesting touch. Hope I captured it well enough...

244 ENDLI-x - Yellow

Romaji )

The morning glow
of the sky

Paints the whole town yellow

Crushes
my heart

I hate the lightness

No matter how hard
As for me

I want the greatest love

I run through the lonely night

Laughing bitterly at
my withered wings

But still
I sing of you

We'll share sadness
and a kiss...

I love U...
I love U...

Because you're here
Because I'm here

The emotion of knowing we were born here

Makes me smile...

The world is watching us
What color shall we paint the near future?

Gives me chills...

I avoid the cruelty on the news

The world is too broken to speak of anyway

Distrust in people is set rolling

But somehow
I'm defenseless against you...

I love U...
I love U...

SCRIPT - Baby Romantica

Pardon my spam. :D;; If only I could be this productive with lyrics all the time, I wouldn't still have dozens of requests waiting... hold on, why am I not this productive all the time...?

*shuts up* Two more requests fulfilled before I disappear for a week! First one here is the ending theme from Junjou Romantica (which I need to watch more of), Baby Romantica by SCRIPT...

SCRIPT - Baby Romantica

Romaji )

It's one of those nights when my chest feels so tight
That I can't even turn in my sleep
I want to hear your voice so badly right now
I'm tracing the numbers on my cell phone

Your shining eyes
Our fingers laying on top of each other
The button on my curiosity is about to pop loose

I'm completely head over heels for you
The longing is enough to make me start crying
I'm thinking about you 24/7
A pure heart, that's all my love is
I can't lie to my heart
Please accept it
My 100% pure baby love

I wonder what about me
Reminded you so much of him
In an intoxicated rage I lashed out at you, demanding answers
And a tiny bit of regret scratched at my chest

Your smile is just a little-
No, it's much too bright
The way you run your fingers through your hair looks so cool

If we're having champagne, I like it dry
I've been thinking about it a lot
That's just the kind of person you are
The wavering look in your beautiful eyes
Is about to suck me in
You don't realize how serious I am

It's been three days since we fought
Said "As if I'll come see you again" and broke up
Oh, you're giving me that innocent look and smiling
That's right, I hate how much I love you

I'm completely head over heels for you
The longing is enough to make me start crying
I'm thinking about you 24/7
A pure heart, that's all my love is
My heart is fresh and white
I'm running as hard as I can toward you
I'm gasping for breath, darling
There's nothing mixed in to soil it
I am your one and only
Yeah, your pure baby love

TOKIO - Southend

Still trying to accomplish as much as I can before I take off for 5 days :B And today by request I present my first TOKIO translation (not counting the Nagase solo) - Southend. Turned out to be quite an interesting little bit o' lyricism. :o Hope everyone enjoys it!

TOKIO - Southend

Romaji )

What color will the new season change into?
Under the sun we were always searching for
If we can be forgiven, I want it to embrace us sinners
Gently, just like the day back then

It was the last of how many dreams?
I woke up feeling like your voice was calling me
Before I knew it, my desires had gone beyond the dream
Within a time I can't go back to...

A light in the distance
Is shining on the two of us now
In place of a goodbye

With no excuses, you just stayed by my side
Asking me in a lonely voice to never let go
This great maze continues on even now
Continuing to sway my remaining memories

I walked by the noisy crowd
Only looking at the blue boundary lines
I'll say it over and over
Within the one certain time we lived in...

The words I swallowed without saying
Are burning through my chest, and yet
Why does the brilliance of the light grow?

Still not knowing the joy of being able to love
Our answer was cut short
I'll say it over and over
Within the one certain time we lived in...

The faded pages
Are shining on our precious days now
In place of a goodbye

Oda Kazumasa - Tashika na Koto

Thought I'd try to get some of these old lyrics requests taken care of before I disappear from internet-land for 5 days later in the week (though knowing me, I'll borrow my dad's dinosaur laptop just so I can translate some on my planes *would rather geek than sleep*). So here's a nice simple one by Oda Kazumasa, Tashika na Koto. Enjoy!

Oda Kazumasa - Tashika na Koto (Something certain)

Romaji )

I was looking up at the sky after the rain among the people walking by
I'm sure I never noticed the smallest happiness because I couldn't bear the sadness

As time goes by, can I love you? Can I really protect you?
As I looked up at the sky I thought, what can I do for you now?

Never forget, because no matter when, I'll surely be beside you
That's why we're here now
Being blown by the same wind, living in the same time

Like looking out for yourself and quietly thinking of someone else
When you're sad, don't be alone, don't go far away from me

I'd rather trust than doubt, even if the wounds in my heart never go away
Let's go looking for the things we've lost, I'm sure we'll find them someday

The most important things aren't the special occasions
They're the days I spend gazing at you
Feeling the way I do now

There's something I still haven't said to you
It's that, since the day we met, I've always loved you

Are you looking at the sky? Are you listening to the wind?
We can never return here
But don't ever think of that as a sad thing

The most important things aren't the special occasions
They're the days I spend gazing at you
Feeling the way I do now

Never forget, no matter how much time passes, because I'll surely be beside you
That's why we're here now
Being blown by the same wind, living in the same time

No matter when, I'll surely be beside you
