Arashi (Ninomiya Kazunari) - Kako

Here's the first of two entries in another little Arashi lyricspam! I get a lot of requests for these guys lately... wonder why that is...? :B

This is one that I was honored to be asked to translate, the ever-popular Nino solo Kako. Yeah, he writes the title with characters reading 'konseki' (traces), but it is in fact called Kako (the past) according to Nino himself on Bay Storm. Weird boy. Anyway, as goes without saying, this is a gorgeous song that has made me sorta kinda tear up on more than one occasion, so I do hope I captured the lonely, nostalgic sadness in it. Without further ado here it is!

Out of all Kako's translations I've read so far, I think this one is the best.

Those lyrics are very touching...Nino has such a way with lyrics! <3 Where can I hear this? I found him singing GReeeeN-san's Kiseki from Bay Storm the other day...but not this.

I've seen a lot of people translate this, and I think this one ranks high on my list of favorites. Very, very good phrasing.

I remember forcing my friend to watch Iza! Now with me, and I started crying when this song started playing and she looked at me funny XD

Different translations I had read had it as something along the lines of...he COULD love someone else, but there just isn't anyone else except the person he's speaking to.

I tried translating it to Korean so I could try to understand it better, which got me something like:
"다른 사람을 사랑해도, [다른 사람으로 밖에 없습니다/다른 사람 밖에 아닙니다."
x__x Which would be "Even if I love another person, they are nothing more than just another person/they are just another person." So I was really confused. Thank you so much for clearing that up! T__T I feel happy to finally know. Haha.

I stumbled over that verse once or twice too XD At first it seems like it should be "there will never be anyone else," just based on the feel of the song, so when I realized his grammar was saying something totally different it took some getting used to. I was pretty proud when I managed to piece it all together. ^^;

thanks for translating this. even though there's quite a few translations out there i like how you phrase the words for your lyrics translations.

the only line i could understand before reading the translations was 'what's for dinner' and somehow the.. simplicity of that line struck me. well, the music caught me first, otherwise i wouldn't pay attention to the lyrics.

i cried without even understanding what he's singing, but the song just has this sad, melancholic feel to it.

I always liked the "what's for dinner" line too; it adds such a simple sort of realism to such a deeply emotional song.

B-But a few nights ago I finally watched their Iza, Now concert and, without even realizing I've watched it before on YouTube, I fell in LUVRZ. I love soft songs being sung passionately by a cutesy hamburger-handed boy.

LOL! That was one of the better Arashi parodies I've seen... not that I've seen many. Only about two of them really stick in my memory anymore, this being one of them now. >>

Hey, a good sign of sanity is having a good enough sense of humor able to laugh at parodies of stuff you love. I think sanity is considered a good thing. :D

That's always been my favourite line in the song. WEEPING. Nino's such an emo genius.

It's amazing how you always manage to make the translation flow so smoothly without losing the original (for lack of a better word) flavour of the song.

The one thing I love about Nino is that, although he's not the best singer (but I really came to like his voice anyway), he writes these great songs and makes really nice renditions, not to mention I love seeing him playing instruments ^^.

Kako officially launched my love fest with the little twerp. It sounds so corny but I've been captivated by this song ever since I heard it. And there's just no other for it but beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

And there's no other way to describe your translation but perfection. The lyrics always inspires me to believe in a love like this. Eh, so serious all of a sudden right? On a lighter note, how the heck does that game loving freak manage to create such beauty?

I feel really bad...but I took your translation and put it in my header..it was like..4AM when I did it, so I totally wasn't thinking about credit and was just worried about getting the thing done.

Aww, sure, that's totally fine! I generally always agree when people ask to use my lyric translations anyway... I just like to make sure of where they're going and if they're credited, etc. So no worries, and you can consider this my permission to use any of the other lyrics here in future headers/graphics too ^_^ (Nice header, by the way :D)
