Arashi - Still...

Taiji Project
For the fourth entry of five in Taiji Project's Arashi Day lyricspam, I present one of those songs that keeps getting stuck in my head due to its past usage as an ending theme for their variety shows - Still...! Ellipses and all! *cough* This one had some tricky wordings, so I hope it makes sense...

Arashi - Still...

"Itsuka..." kimi ga itta wasuresou na sono kotoba o omoidashiteita
Nani mo ka mo ga kagayaiteta ano hi kara

Itsuka ano omoi ga kagayakihanatsu toki made
Sharin ga mawaridashitara tabi wa hajimatte shimau kara
Mou hagurenai you ni kako o sotto dakishimeru

Donna toki mo boku no subete tabun mada...

Modoreru hazu mo nai hi ga itooshii yo demo ashita mo bokutachi o matteiru
Doko e datte mada ikeru

"Ano hi kimi wa boku ni nante ittetakke..."
Nante ittatte mou kankei nai ne
Sanzan atte dandan wakatte kisetsu semarikite sanzan naite
Kimi wa kimi yume dekkaku egaite
Boku wa koko kara seikou o negatteru
"Matteru dake ja ashita wa nai kara
Ugoita koko ja hajimaranai kara"

Saki no mienai kurai dorou mo
Sore ga tatoe ukairo de mo
Ima wa sukoshi futari to mo
Tsurai hyoujou shimatte okou

Kore wa wakare de wa nai deai-tachi to no mata arata na hajimari
Tada boku wa nao anata ni aitai
Mada...

Itsuka futari atta imi ga wakaru toki made
Sharin ga mawaridashitara tabi wa hajimatte shimau kara
Mou hagurenai you ni kako o sotto dakishimeru

"Someday..." I remembered the words you said that I had nearly forgotten
Standing on the street I call up the seasons, and the wind stops
Then your voice brings me back to my senses, and life has carried on as usual
Ever since that day when everything was shining

Everything seems like it will disappear if I close the door
The fleeting days when I couldn't be more honest have gone away

That was probably the day we set off walking, each on a different path
Until the time when those feelings radiate their light
When the wheels start to turn, the journey will begin
So I'll gently embrace the past so I won't go astray again

Even the secrets I kept hidden all along, I've shared only with you
No matter when, everything I am is probably still...

On the busy street, I pass by people whose names I don't even know
Yes, everyone has a precious someone that they're yearning for

When you feel like you're being crushed by all the burdens you carry, just remember
The hand you've been holding onto all this time is not a lie
I long for the days that will never return, but tomorrow is waiting for us
We can still keep going, no matter how far

"What did you say to me back then..."
Saying that doesn't matter anymore, does it?
We met often, we gradually understood, and as the season drew near we cried often
You are you, so paint your dreams huge
I'll be here wishing for your success
"If you just wait around, tomorrow won't come
If you only move here, nothing will start"

Even on the dark street where you can't see ahead
Even if it's a detour
For now both of us should put away
Our painful expressions, just for a while

This isn't goodbye, it's the beginning of many new meetings
But, I still want to see you again
Still...
Someday we'll meet again smiling, yes, I know it

That was probably the day we set off walking, each on a different path
Until the time when we understand why we met each other
When the wheels start to turn, the journey will begin
So I'll gently embrace the past so I won't go astray again

I LOVE this song. This is one of my favorites and like Arashi, I think this song could be for lovers or friends or any kind of relationship, it's so universal and everyone can get something out of it.

I also thought it totally belongs in their top 10 they put on their All the Best! CD :D

Thank you so much. Your translation is well said and is easy to follow along.

<3

Psst happy birthday Arashi :D

Thank you for translating this. This is one of my favorites if not my all time favorite Arashi song. The rap part is the best too. It does remind me a little bit of Kaze, but that's probably because its written by the same person (if I'm not mistaken).

Hee hee, I always thought Sho's "kurai" was "cry". Thanks!

if asked, i think i would say this is my favorite arashi song and i just love your translation ♥ through other translations, i've come to appreciate and really love the song, but many have left me confused in various parts. so much so that i've tried to look up kanji and what not to try to understand it myself =P. but your translation is done so beautifully; it makes sense and flows really well. so thank you for sharing ^_^.

also, do you think you will translate tokei jikake no umbrella? i'd love to see your rendition ^_^

Aww, thanks ^__^ I'm glad you enjoyed it that much!

And yeah, I've had a few requests for that song and My Girl already, so there's a good chance I'll be giving them both a shot before too long ^^

I'm happy to see that you translated this song -- so I'm giving you these: ♥♥♥♥♥

Random bit about this: I've always loved how Sho composes his rap lyrics, especially in this song. Not only does it sound good, it also sounds intelligent, in a way. LOL I don't make any sense, I know. ^^;;

Haha, no, I think you're right - Sho's raps sound bizarrely intelligent (for raps XD)! They really show what a huge and developed vocabulary he has, for one thing... and the rhythms he fits them into are always unique and interesting too ^^

Anyway, thank you for this and your comment on the other translation too! I'm so glad you enjoyed both of these, and even more that you prefer my renditions above others ^__^ ♥
