It's been a loooooong time coming, but I finally wrote up a FAQ to keep linked up on the Taiji Project profile. Keep in mind that this is subject to change.

Massively long, so click here to readCollapse )

Got a question that wasn't answered here? Ask away in a comment, and I'll either answer you directly or add it to the FAQ (or both)!

you said: "I never expected a response this huge and positive to something as mundane as a FAQ... XD"
well, i'll say: "I've never came accross FAQ that is seriously-not-mundane before this either!"
huhu. thanx for all your hard work, babe.. if it's not for u, the rest of non-japanese arashi fans would never be able to love them like we do now..
Lots of love,
Apr. 9th, 2008 08:45 am (UTC)
thanks for sharing your hard work with us!! i love watching arashi but i don't speak japanese other than the few words that i've picked up watching so many arashi clips, so thank you for subbing!!

As long as you're willing to agree to the rules - sure, all are welcome here ^_^ Hope you enjoy the subs!

Hello there =)
yah, so I re-read this post again, as I had some free time (waay too much for my own good) and I was interested in your work ... Especially about your studies. But that's another matter, and I don't want to seem pushy ='D it's just all the translating process and all the work that goes with it that passionates me. Anyway ...
So yay, congrats to you =D Because wow, to translate the 117 of DnArashi ... Wow.
Plus you have a life ( ... Some people ... don't ... Like me) and I admire you. I was a bit concerned because I thought you'd get fed up with it, but you seem to enjoy it, and I think I understand a bit much, now. I know, it's odd to leave a comment to check up on people, but you're a human being, you deserve to be treated as such, and sometimes I think people might see you as a robot ... But I don't think I've seen any mean comments, and I'm glad for it :D.
...Again, this seems weird. Anyway. I read that you were also going to sub the GnArashi ? Wow, you have all my support for that as well :o (Oh, and I just downloaded the CnArashi ! I didn't know about that show ! I'd seen some parts, but I thought it was DnArashi ! So I'm impressed, the preview for episode 35 seemed really serious ! If I can leave a request, can I ask for this one ? Or any other, really, I just want to be able to see what the show was like :o but don't put it as a request if you don't feel like subbing this or anything !)

Ok. Now that I've written a huge comment that seems probably one that a mother would do (am I turning MotherSho ?!) and rambled a bit about Arashi, I'm going to go sleep, somehow.

Thank you very much for all the efforts and trouble you're willing to go through for all of the community. I really admire you. ♥

p-s : don't worry, I'm not a stalker; If I left two comments on your LJ today, is because I felt talkative and grateful... I shall restrain myself next time. Sorry again !

Re: Hello there =)
No problem at all! All comments, feedback, questions, etc. are always welcome here - especially the sweet caring kinds like yours have been ^__^ Thank you again!

And yeah, the preview for CnA 35 made me curious too, so I actually downloaded it just to see what it was like o.o I'll definitely look into subbing that one too! Or maybe go through more of the series (I haven't seen many episodes myself) to see what others seem interesting... hmmm... *makes note to check out CnA more*

If I want to request for a video clip to be translated, where should I go to request for it?
May. 6th, 2008 04:21 am (UTC)
Re: Request?
In a message, email, comment on any post, etc - anywhere it's sent, I'll get an email notification about it, so whichever method you prefer is fine ^^

This is a shameless comment. Really.
Hi. I was just wondering if you would consider subbing the one episode of Gakkou E Ikou Max with Ninomiya Kazunari in it? XD
My Nihonggo vocabulary is an EPIC FAILURE. However, the episode was an EPIC WIN! Nino & V6 with cute cross-dressing boys... *_*
But if you're swamped with requests, it's perfectly alright if you just ignore this. ^_^

Thanks! ♥

Re: This is a shameless comment. Really.
That episode was too adorable. XD Added to the request list, so I'll give it a go if no one else beats me to it! ^^

Heyyy I'm soo apreciative of all you do for Arashi and Jpop obsessed maniacs like me! LOL it must be tough!!

I was wondering if you wouldn't mind whenever you have time subbing a drama special featuring Takki and Fukada Kyoko called Kimi ga Kureta Natsu, it seems reallly sad and I think it's based one a tru life story btu I'm nto sure.

Thanks for all your hardwork even if you can't sub it I'll understand though :)

Hmm, I haven't seen that one yet but it sounds interesting... I'll look into it and see if there's anything I can do ^^

Wow this is the sweetest faq I've ever seen.. normally is just angry stuff already supposing that if your reading the faq then you're a mean person trying to steal files... I know, I work with fansub too... haha But I worry if people won't take advantage of your kindness. So please be careful!!
Thatnk you sooo much for your hardwork (10 month translating... You're brave!)!!! The least we can do is cheer and support you!!
So banzai for becky!!

Hehe, I'm glad you enjoyed the FAQ :3 I tried to keep the tone a little more friendly and less stiff and down-to-business than a lot of other FAQs I've seen...

And thank you for the kind words and support! It's much appreciated ♥

I did sporadic comment on several of the eps I downloaded, however I just had the chance to read you FAQ just now, and ... wow... if I havent loved you already, I would seriously fall flat on the floor.

You're planning on releasing G no Arashi too? OMG! You ARE DEFINITELY amazing (if such word can sum up all the awesomeness)! I do subtitling too as a part-time job--not japanese-english though, and sometimes it could be HELL with all the details and sort, hence all the admiration as you being able to commit and practically doing your magic with Arashi shows. Keep up the beautiful works you have done so far!

Hi Taiji!

First! thanks for adding me!!
secondly i would like to know if you can sub arashi no shukudaikun episode 73, with Satoda Mai. If it is not too trouble for you.

Anyway... Thanks!

Re: Request
Sure, if nobody else beats me to it, I'll see what I can do ^^
Jun. 20th, 2008 12:57 pm (UTC)
firstly, I would like to send you my deepest and sincere thanks and gratitude for subbing D no Arashi. It is an awesome series.

Secondly, u must have heard this a lot before, i like your translation. it easy to understand and the feeling and expressions of the Arashi's boys really get through well

Then I hope you still continue subbing the Arashi series eg. shukudai / himitsu etc.

Hontou Arigatou

I'm also learning rather slowly tho' as i'm thinking of doing my feloowship in japan ( Chiba ken ) in the future

Thanks so much! I'm really glad to hear the translations work for you; I'm a total perfectionist about them and what they convey, so being critiqued on that (positive or otherwise) always makes me happy ^__^

Jul. 14th, 2008 07:05 pm (UTC)
WOW!I just came here to read this. I think you're a star and absolutely amazing for doing this for the rest of us who don't understand Japanese.

It was a really interesting FAQ too! I had no idea you had already done the whole series in ten months!!! Really makes me wish I knew the language.

I've always wanted to know, how long does it take to translate just one episode of D no Arashi? Just typing a group conference word for word is time consuming enough, but then to translate it all! Well you're brilliant! just wanted to let you know.
Jul. 16th, 2008 12:15 am (UTC)
Hmm... it's hard to say, since there were several different levels of difficulty between all the D no Arashi episodes. Also, I tend to lose track of time when I translate things XD;; But I'd say maybe... 4-6 hours is probably a pretty safe estimate. Unless it was a really difficult episode that needed more attention (or a clip show, which saved a lot of time since I could copy-paste half of them XD).
